DeWitt County Court Records Search
DeWitt County court records searches can be done online, by email, or in person at the appropriate courthouse. The County Clerk and District Clerk are responsible for issuing these records. Access to court records online is free, but copies obtained by email or in person cost a small fee.

DeWitt County Criminal and Civil Records
The DeWitt County District and County Clerks are the custodians of criminal and civil records. These custodians provide court records by email and in person during business hours. Individuals seeking copies of felony and civil court records where the amount of money or damages is $200 or more should email the District Clerk at dewitt-county-district-clerk@dwcotx.org. Those seeking civil and misdemeanor court records can email the County Clerk at dewitt-county-clerk@dwcotx.org. Plain copies of criminal and civil court records cost $1 each, while certified copies cost $5 each.
The DeWitt County Clerk's office also offers online access to criminal and civil records. Requesters should visit the Online Record Search Portal, select the "Criminal" or "Civil" menu, and conduct a search using the case number, name, birth date, and filing date.
Anyone who wants to view or obtain copies of DeWitt County arrest records should contact the Sheriff’s Office. They can submit their requests
online or in person at the office.
DeWitt County Marriage Records
The DeWitt County Clerk’s Office issues marriage records from 1846 to the present. These records are public and are available to anyone. The cost of a certified copy of a marriage record is $7.00. Anyone wishing to request a copy should complete an Application for Certified Copy of Marriage Record Form and send the application with the appropriate fee to:

DeWitt County Divorce Records
Individuals can obtain copies of divorce records by email or in person at the DeWitt County District Clerk’s Office. All email requests should be sent to dewitt-county-district-clerk@dwcotx.org. In-person requests should be made Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Requesters must provide basic information to help the records staff locate the desired records. Uncertified copies of divorce records cost $1 while certified copies cost $5.
DeWitt Birth Records
Birth records are closed in DeWitt County for 75 years from the birth date. Only qualified applicants, such as registrants, parents, grandparents, siblings, spouses, legal guardians, and legal representatives, are eligible to request closed birth records. However, anyone may obtain records older than 75 years. Individuals can get copies of birth records by mail or in person from the DeWitt County Clerk’s Office. Each applicant must provide a valid photo ID and pay the applicable fee, which can be made by cash, check, or money order. Certified copies of birth records cost $23 each. Mail applicants should send a completed Application for Certified Copy of Birth Certificate Form to the office.
DeWitt Death Records
Confidential death records are documents closed for 25 years from the date of death. The DeWitt County Clerk issues these records to the deceased person’s parents, grandparents, siblings, spouses, legal guardians, legal representative, and law enforcement or governmental agencies. Death records older than 25 years are public and are available to anyone. To obtain birth records, individuals must complete an Application for Certified Copy of Death Certificate Form, provide a valid photo ID, and pay the necessary fees. Applications may be completed in the Clerk’s Office or requested by mail. Certified copies of DeWitt County death records cost $21 for the first copy and $4 for each additional copy.
DeWitt County Probate Court Records
Individuals can find probate court records at the DeWitt County Clerk’s Office. Requests can be made online, by email at dewitt-county-clerk@dwcotx.org, or in person from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. For online requests, go to the Online Record Search tool, select the Probate menu, and enter a cause number, name, case type, court, address, or filing date. Plain copies of probate court records cost $1 while certified copies cost $5.
DeWitt County Property Records
The DeWitt County Clerk, Treasurer, and Tax Assessor-Collector are the custodians of property records. These custodians issue property records in person during business hours. The County Clerk provides records by email at dewitt-county-clerk@dwcotx.org, while the Treasurer issues records by email at county-treasurer@dwcotx.org. The Clerk and Tax Assessor-Collector both have online portals where individuals can access property information at no charge. Specifically, requesters can view property tax information online through the Tax Assessor-Collector’s Online Taxes Portal. A search can be conducted by account number, owner name, mailing address, owner ID, property address, appraisal district number, statement number, or legal description. The County Clerk’s Online Search tool is another way to find property information at no cost. The search criteria include instrument number, name, party type, filing date, record type, volume, or page number.
