Hopkins County Criminal and Civil Records
The Hopkin County, District, Justice of Peace Courts are the custodians of all criminal and civil records. The County Courts specifically maintain criminal records of cases involving Class A and B misdemeanors. The District Court keeps records of felony criminal cases and civil matters where the amount of money or damages involved is $200 or more. The Justice of the Peace Courts keep records of Class C misdemeanor criminal cases and minor civil matters.
Requesters can visit the Hopkin County District Clerk’s Office in person to obtain copies of criminal and civil records. The record staff will provide a form to complete to process the request. A search and copy fee will be required before the record is released to the customer. The Clerk also permits residents to use the Re:SearchTX portal to find criminal and court records for free. However, a fee might required to download court documents.
Hopkins County Marriage and Divorce Records
The Hopkins County Clerk issues certified copies of marriage records online during business hours. Requesters must pay a fee of $8 per copy by credit card and be willing to upload a form of identification when submitting their application. An extra $5 is charged for the processing fee and a $0.35 verification fee. The customer will be notified by email when the Hopkins County marriage certificate is ready for pickup.
Individuals can obtain copies of divorce records from the Hopkins County District Clerk. They can visit the office Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to submit their requests. The Clerk charges $1 per page for copies of divorce records and $5 for certification. Requesters can also request divorce records online through the Re:SearchTX. However, they are required to register an account to log in to the portal using a username and password. Users can view divorce information for free, but a fee is required to download divorce documents from the portal. They have to pay $1 for the first 10 pages and $.10 per page for each additional page.
Hopkins County Birth and Death Records
Hopkins County vital records for births and deaths are confidential. Death records become public after 25 years, while Hopkins County birth records become public after 75 years. Eligible individuals can request birth and death certificates online or by mail. Certified copies of death certificates cost $21 per copy, $4 for each additional copy, and Hopkins County birth certificates cost $23 per copy.
